orcdial --pair tab5
OrcDial
A hardware tuning knob for OrcSDR. OrcDial turns an M5Stack Dial into a wireless remote that follows the dashboard on the Tab5 and tunes it with a real knob.
OrcDial nightly-f0dbad9 · M5Stack Dial (ESP32-S3)
Install from the browser. No release yet, so this is the nightly build of main (newer, less tested).
What it does
- Home is a full-range VFO. The knob tunes by the step and raster of the band the Tab5 reports. Press to cycle frequency, step, span, filter and volume.
- Follows the Tab5. Rotate to browse dashboards, press to open one. The receiver owns the radio state; the Dial shows what the Tab5 acknowledged and labels anything else OFFLINE.
- Tuning keypad on a long press, mode cycling (NFM, AM, WFM, USB, LSB) with a tap, BACK on every dashboard.
- Dial Settings: pairing, link status, brightness and sleep, knob acceleration, reverse and click.
Pairing and the link
The Dial talks to the Tab5 over ESP-NOW with an encrypted, authenticated protocol (version 4). You pair once from the Tab5 and the Dial reconnects on its own after restarts. OrcSDR stays fully usable without a Dial.
What you need
- An M5Stack Dial and a USB-C data cable. More on the M5Stack hardware.
- An M5Stack Tab5 running OrcSDR (install it from the browser).
- Desktop Chrome or Edge for the browser installer.
